First, the DO NOT FEED TO DOGS list:

TO TREAT, OR NOT TO TREAT....

Rich foods aren't good for Cotons (or most small dogs), and can make them feel awful.  It's best if their "human food" is limited to fresh veggies and fruits, or lean meat or cooked rice, ALL in small amounts. Consider how tiny your Coton is, it doesn't take much of any food to make them not hungry for their kibble, and then you start having issues with dogs who won't eat their healthy kibble because they only want treats.

Having had lots of larger dogs, I'm used to giving a big butcher bone to them, or a large smoked beef knuckle. These choices aren't good for Cotons, they're too big and rich and can cause tummy upset. Some bones can be fed, as long as they do not splinter, (the small pieces that come off should crumble, instead). Knuckle bones can be a good choice, however choose one that's  smaller.  Use a racquetball as a guideline for the size a knuckle bone should be, and less meaty is actually better.  Your dog likely doesn't need the extra calories, the bones are to clean their teeth.

Some of the best Coton treats are frozen veggies, especially in summertime. Green beans, carrots, apples and blueberries tend to be favorites in my house. Everything in moderation, though, and remember that a Coton is very small, so their serving sizes should be, too!  Of course most fresh fruits and veggies are excellent snacks for your dog, but green beans have the added benefit of helping keep your dog from getting tear stains, and with Cotons, that can be important. No one wants a dog with a yucky face!
