Keeping your Coton Safe with ID
It is SO important for your dog to carry ID with him at all times! I have taken care to make sure your dog has a microchip inserted in the back of his neck to hopefully prevent the worst, but it’s always best to have a collar or harness tag on your dog that has your phone number on it. It can be the difference between getting your dog back in hours from other kind people, versus having to search the local dog pounds, lost and found ads, or wait for a call from one.
I keep collars on my dogs specifically to carry their ID tags. For walks I use a harness and leash, but they always wear their collars. Also, it’s easiest to get your puppy adjusted to wearing collars while they’re young, but of course important to check it often for fit, since puppies grow so fast! Also, the round-rolled leather style collars are truly the best for not tangling their hair. At the age of 8-10 wks, when your puppy goes home with you, his neck will be about 9 inches around. I hope this assists in finding a first collar that is just right, but in case it doesn't-- Fear not! Your puppy will come home with a puppy collar suitable for putting a tag on.

Your Gallant Coton puppy has been provided with a microchip inserted into the back of his neck for his safety. I pre-register that microchip with Gallant Farms contact information. That way if he's found, I will be contacted. To change your puppy's chip information to your own contact information, just go to the site, put in his chip number, and register. It will auto-transfer his ownership to you, while retaining Gallant Cotons as a backup. Please remember to keep your contact information current to keep your pet safe! With shelters being so full, and so many dogs lost or homeless, it's a very important thing you can do to ensure his safety.
Microchip ID registration is FREE for his entire lifetime, and along with a collar ID tag, can truly mean the difference between life and death for your puppy, and that he can remain in your home with you! If you haven't already, please register or update your dog's microchip right now. The peace of mind is well worth it!
